The Prosthetic & Orthotic department fabricates the various aids and appliances used by the locomotor disabled.

Interventions offered by this department include:

Measurements.
Trial Fittings.
Moulding.
Lamination.
Assembly.
Negative and positive cast making.
Finishing and finalisation of aids and appliances.

Some of the major products manufactured in the Prosthetic and Orthotic Workshop are:

Hip Knee ankle foot orthosis(HKAFO).
Knee ankle foot orthosis (KAFO).
Ankle foot orthosis (AFO).
Foot orthosis (FO).
Spinal Braces and Jackets.
Collars, belts and frames.
Splints.
Boots.
Hip and knee disarticulation prosthesis.
Above knee and Below knee prosthesis.
Ankle & foot prosthesis.
Above elbow and below elbow prosthesis.
Shoulder, elbow & wrist disarticulation prosthesis.

  •   In the event of non-availability of pre-fabricated components, appliances made from A.I.I.P.M & R/ Forged components will incur a further waiting period of 2 weeks in addition to the period mentioned against each category of appliance.
  • Average period for trial of Orthoses mentioned above is further subject to availability of raw material & kits at that particular moment.
  • The above-mentioned period is exclusive of Sundays, public holidays and of the time required for training the patient in the use of the appliance. This period may vary from 2 to 3 weeks depending on patient compliance.
  • Though every care is taken to stick to the time schedule mentioned above, the Institute is not responsible for delays caused by events (Manmade and or Natural calamities), which are beyond its control.
  •       It may be pertinent to note that these norms may be relaxed at the discretion of the Competent Authority in cases of children and patients having medical priority.

     The Institute is the implementing agency for the scheme of assistance to disabled persons for purchase/fitting of aids/appliances (ADIP Scheme) of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India through the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) Kanpur.
