The Institute is headed by Dr. Rajendra Sharma, Director who is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consultant with about 24 years experience in the speciality after post-graduation. Before joining the All India Institute of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation on 1st June, 2012, he was working at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi as Head of Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

He has to his credit the privilege of being the first MD(PMR) degree holder in North India. He is a renowned teacher in the speciality of PMR for University of Delhi, National Board of Examinations and Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi. He is also recognized as Post – Graduate teacher by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences , as an expert in the field of PMR, he has been associated with ICMR, WHO and RCI for projects and manpower development in the field of Rehabilitation of Persons with Disability.
Dr. Rajendra Sharma is well known for his considerable contribution to books and journals of PMR. His distinguished role in the field of PMR has been recognized at the National level.

Under his dynamic leadership the institute has started expanding its sphere of activities in order to maintain and improve the quality of services to the population in need of medical rehabilitation, a step further towards becoming the best at international level.
